Mini-modem
for Handhelds, Other Devices
The Mini-Landline modem is a small business card length, v.90
external landline modem that, with the proper cabling, can be used with
virtually any serial handheld device. It includes the latest data
correction software, the latest data compression protocols as well as
the ability to communicate with older modems built with previous
technology. The Mini-Landline modem uses standard RJ-11 cabling and
jacks with the ability to transfers data up to 56kbps over phone lines.
Small but
Powerful
This low-powered modem can be powered externally by select
Intermec handheld computers or by a separate AC wall charger. Four LED
indicators; carrier detect, data terminal ready, transmitting, and
receiving give users the reassurance that the modem is performing
properly. In addition, the Mini-Landline modem has been approved for
easy use in over 70 countries. Over 40 of those countries will not
require the user to change a country code.
Multiple Uses
The handheld computer does not have to free a PCMCIA or compact
flash slot for modem use. Thus, the modem can be easily shared with
numerous handheld computers. When finished with tele-communications, the
modem is disconnected and can go into a pocket or briefcase. This modem
cable can be used with any DB-9 serial port on a standard computer.
Easy to Install
The Mini-landline modem can be installed in a matter of seconds
by simply plugging it into your handheld computer through a serial
cable. In addition, the modem can be moved from one handheld to another
by simply transferring the serial cable. Therefore, this portable modem
can then be shared by several handheld devices; reducing the cost of the
system.
For a cable-free solution, the Intermec 700 Series or 62XX handheld
computer serves as the power source, eliminating the need for the serial
cable.
