PTC 2134 Pen-Based Computer

The PTC 2134 combines standard PC technology with Symbol's expertise in data collection and wireless radio technology to provide a flexible, high performance mobile terminal. Well accepted by workers, the deployment of the PTC 2134 leads to increased productivity and enhanced customer service, while measurably reducing costs and cycle time of work processes.

Usability and reliability
The PTC 2134 was designed with the mobile user in mind. Specially contoured, its weight is evenly distributed to ensure safe, comfortable deployment for any type of user. Its 6" (15.1cm) diagonal full-VGA touch-screen is optimized for stylus input and offers block letter character recognition and signature capture capability. The impact resistant, tempered glass panel contributes to the strength of this device, which is rugged enough to withstand 4ft (1.22m) drops to concrete and resistant to rain and dust, enabling the PTC 2134 to deliver reliable performance, even in harsh environments.

The PTC 2134 is powered by an SC400 100 MHz microprocessor, offering robust processing with very low power consumption. With up to 64 MB DRAM, the PTC 2134 empowers users to manage data quickly and efficiently. Windows 95 and Windows CE are supported, and Symbol's expertise and tools for integrating wireless communications, auto-ID and enhanced power management make it easy to develop and deploy in standard languages such as Visual Basic and C++.

Several wireless communication options are available for the PTC 2134. Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) connectivity is supported with IEEE 802.11-compliant direct sequence or frequency hopping spread spectrum technology. Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) access is available on several networks including Mobitex, and CDPD and DataTAC.
